Pros

  • Durable construction
  • Induction-compatible and oven-safe up to 600°F
  • Spacious surface and flared rims
  • Has All-Clad’s lifetime warranty.

Cons

  • Heavy and handle isn’t the most comfortable
  • Not as responsive as other cookware
  • Pretty pricey

All-Clad D5 is a favorite of ours and our go-to recommendation for anyone wanting premium-quality, durable stainless steel. It’s responsive, reliable, spacious, and has excellent browning and evaporation.

Let’s look closer at what it can do.

Features

The All-Clad D5 collection has plenty to offer home cooks – whether you’re a beginner or not. So we won’t be able to cover everything it can do.

But here are its standout features:

  • Warp-free durability – The 5-ply bonded construction of All-Clad D5 with stainless steel and aluminum ensures even heating while eliminating the risk of hotspots.
  • Built to last – Backed by All-Clad’s limited lifetime warranty, you can trust in the durability and quality of this cookware.
  • Versatile – The All-Clad D5 range works on all stovetops, including induction, and is oven-safe up to 600°F.
  • Superior cooking performance – The even heating and responsiveness will help you cook better, tastier meals every time.
  • Elegant design: A beautiful brushed finish and fitted lids make this cookware an attractive addition to any kitchen.

Ease of Use

The All-Clad D5 collection is versatile and easy to use but has some drawbacks.

It’s heavier than its competitors. For example, a 12-inch D3 stainless steel fry pan weighs 2.8 lbs. Whereas the D5 weighs 3.1 lbs – almost 10% heavier. Its handle also isn’t the most comfortable to use. Although, it does a solid job of staying cool.

That said, its flared rims and curved corners make it simple to slide food onto a plate or pour liquids. And its generous cooking surface means you don’t have to cautiously stir food.

Negatives aside, the D5 stainless steel collection is really versatile. You can use it on all types of stovetops, including induction. And it’s oven-safe up to 600°F – great for most cooking techniques.

So if you want versatile cookware with generous room and effortless food release, look no further.

Heat Distribution and Retention

As you can see above, the results speak for themselves.

The All-Clad D5 collection isn’t as responsive as other cookware. Equally, though, its 5-ply clad construction and steel core layer give you consistent results and excellent heat distribution.

If you’re curious, here are the test results of our heat retention test:

TimeTemperature
1 min301°F
2 mins256°F
3 mins219°F
4 mins176°F
5 mins143°F
6 mins114°F
7 mins82°F

The D5 collection took 6 minutes and 12 seconds to cool to 100°F after heating to 350°F.

Granted, it isn’t on par with cast iron brands like Le Creuset. But its heat retention is still ideal for dishes that need steady, prolonged heat.

And its durability isn’t half bad, either.

Durability

The All-Clad D5 stainless steel collection is tough as nails.

All in all, this cookware is built to last. It is made with premium-quality 18/10 stainless steel, a form of 304-grade stainless steel for superb culinary performance. And to back it up, All-Clad includes a limited lifetime warranty on all its products.

All-Clad is not as cheap as Misen or Made In. But if you want a reliable, durable set of pots and pans for years to come, All-Clad D5 is the perfect solution.

Honest Verdict

All-Clad D5 cookware is the best stainless steel cookware for electric stoves. If budget isn’t a problem, we highly recommend taking a look:

But there are cheaper alternatives out there. And if you’re just getting started, you might want to consider a different brand.

Best Budget Stainless Steel: Made In

Made In 5-ply Stainless Steel 7-Piece Cookware Set Made In 5-ply Stainless Steel 7-Piece Cookware Set

Made In's cookware is very similar to All-Clad, and it performs just as well. Although, its shallow walls aren't as good for stirring food.

Pros

  • One of the most affordable, mid-tier brands on the market
  • Made in the USA using premium quality materials
  • Has excellent heat transfer and retention

Cons

  • Not as durable as other brands
  • Isn’t much variety
  • Shallow walls make it more likely for food spillage

Made In is not the most durable nor the most customer-friendly brand on the market. We’ve seen a lot of customers complain about its support. So it’s not a perfect solution by any means.

That said, it’s still one of the best cookware for electric stoves. Why?

The OK-ish service helps. Made In has good enough performance and versatility to get you started. And for the low price you’d pay, it’s an appealing and competitive solution for new home cooks looking for the best bang for their buck.

Features

Source: Made In

Here are the key features of Made In cookware:

  • Made in the USA –  Made In uses the finest quality materials like 304-grade 18/10 stainless steel and high-grade ferratic 403.
  • 5-ply construction – This kitchen workhorse is durable and reliable, offering superior heat distribution.
  • The king of versatility – Made In’s clad stainless steel is induction-compatible. And it’s oven-safe up to 800°F.
  • Safe and practical – Comes with Made In’s hollow Stay Cool Handle™, so you have a secure, comfortable grip without getting burnt.

Ease of Use

Made In stainless clad is very easy to use and maintain.

The ergonomic, stainless steel handle is an improvement on All-Clad. It curves slightly upwards to give you a secure, comfortable grip and does a great job of dispersing heat, so it stays cool during use. Plus, it doesn’t cut into your palm when loaded with ingredients, thanks to the pans’ 3 lb weight.

Made In Stainless Clad Handle

Made In stainless clad cookware is also dishwasher safe. But all in all, it’s better to handwash. A quick wash for 30 seconds with warm water deals with most food residue.

And like All-Clad, Made In is versatile. Its stainless-clad cookware is oven safe up to 800°F, so it’s suitable for a wide variety of dishes and works on induction stovetops too.

Heat Distribution and Retention

Considering its price, Made In stainless clad has excellent heat distribution. In fact, it almost matches All-Clad.

It’s also not half bad at heat retention either. Here’s how it performed in our tests:

TimeTemperature
1 min279°F
2 mins231°F
3 mins198°F
4 mins156°F
5 mins116°F
6 mins82°F

As you can see, Made In stainless clad cookware took 5 minutes 48 seconds to cool under 100°F – 24 seconds quicker than All-Clad D5.

There may be better options out there for heat retention. But as far as budget stainless steel options go, Made In remains our top choice.

Durability

Made In’s stainless-clad cookware is made using three layers of aluminum and two stainless steel. Aluminum is a great heat conductor. Whereas stainless steel is the most durable.

And so, you can’t expect Made In to have the same stellar durability as All-Clad.

But it’s still pretty well-constructed, in my opinion. Every layer is fully bonded together for improved heat transfer and durability. Not to mention, its 2.5 mm walls are some of the thickest in the industry.

So overall, we’re happy with its durability. Even if it just falls short of All-Clad.

Honest Verdict

Made In isn’t the best choice for experienced home cooks. In that case, you’re better off choosing All-Clad. But if you’re a beginner on a tight budget, and want to simply get started, give Made In a try:

Nonstick

If I was to say, “nonstick is the king of electric stoves,” I’d understand your urge to laugh and walk away.

But it’s true.

You need quick responsiveness, even heat distribution, and solid durability. And high-quality nonstick does just this.

Here are the top nonstick options for electric stoves.

Best Overall Nonstick: T-Fal Ultimate

Pros

  • Affordable and comes with a lifetime warranty
  • Useful safety features
  • Decent durability and heating properties

Cons

  • Heat retention is not as good
  • Only oven-safe up to 400°F
  • Less forgiving due to quick responsiveness

T-Fal Ultimate is the best choice if you want light, high-quality cookware for your electric stove. Compared to all other nonstick, there’s nothing like its sleek interior. It’s easy to use and durable, and more importantly: it comes with a TON of safety features.

Features

Here are T-Fal Ultimate’s main features:

  • Titanium nonstick coating – This cookware has a unique blend of nonstick technology designed to last twice as long as some stainless steel collections.
  • Thermo spot technology – T-Fal includes a safety indicator, which turns solid red when it exceeds temperatures above 350°F.
  • Warranty included – T-Fal Ultimate comes with a lifetime warranty for extra peace of mind.
  • Optimized for durability – This collection is made with a hard anodized aluminum core that gives excellent heat transfer and protection against warping and corrosion.

Ease of Use

T-Fal Ultimate isn’t the lightest on the market. OXO Good Grips gets an advantage for that. T-Fal Ultimate weighs 2.57 lbs – 22 oz heavier than OXO Good Grips.

However, T-Fal Ultimate still remains comfortable to use.

Its silicone-coated handle provides plenty of grip and leverage, so you can confidently move it in the kitchen. And the silicone-coated handle does an excellent job of staying cool during use.

Like most nonstick, cleanup is effortless. You only need a little warm water, and it looks like new. Plus, the stainless steel rivets are covered in titanium-reinforced nonstick, so food doesn’t accumulate.

The only downside – the handle restricts oven-safe temperatures. Most PTFE nonstick is oven-safe up to 500°F. But, T-Fal Ultimate is oven safe up to 400°F.

From our experience, there’s no better nonstick for ease of use and comfort.

Heat Distribution and Retention

We use T-Fal Ultimate here at Purely Cookware. And we wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s a strong option if you need quick responsiveness and even heat transfer, thanks to its thin walls.

Our tests found T-Fal Ultimate took only 1 minute 55 seconds to heat to 200°F. Likewise, it took 2 minutes 12 seconds to reach 300°F.

Equally, though, its thin walls don’t help heat retention.

Throughout testing, we didn’t notice any hotspots forming – a solid sign of good overall durability. And as you can see from our heat distribution test, T-Fal Ultimate has even heat transfer.

All in all, it works great and is quick to respond.

Durability

Generally, T-Fal isn’t known for its durability. Some customers report their nonstick deteriorating after just a few months. While others mention theirs lasting as long as 2 years.

We believe the T-Fal Ultimate collection is pretty durable, nonetheless.

It survived our thermal shock test and scratch test. There weren’t any noticeable warps or dents, and the handle remained sturdy and secure.

The thin walls are more fragile compared to premium brands like All-Clad. But if you take care of it, this collection should last a few years.

Honest Verdict

If you want light cookware for your electric stove, there’s no smarter investment than T-Fal Ultimate. It’s durable, responsive, and has excellent heat distribution. It also has a lifetime warranty, giving you extra peace of mind.

And you can get your T-Fal Ultimate collection today:

If you want something with better heat retention, though, look at our other recommended products.

Pros

  • Superior food release
  • Offers outstanding durability for the price
  • VERY easy to use and maintain
  • Excellent browning ability

Cons

  • Doesn’t work on induction stoves

If that’s grabbed your attention, continue reading.

Features

OXO Good Grips’ features all make cooking simpler and easier. From its nicely shaped body to its lightweight yet sturdy construction, OXO is your very own kitchen assistant.

  • Highly rated in the community – OXO Good Grips has received rave reviews from reputable brands like America’s Test Kitchen, Good Housekeeping, and The Spruce Eats.
  • Comfortable and light – The lightweight OXO Good Grips collection has an ergonomic, silicone-grip handle, so you have complete control in the kitchen.
  • Optimal performance – OXO’s efficient design delivers results quicker than traditional aluminum cookware.

Ease of Use

OXO Good Grips is the easiest cookware to use currently. It’s light (weighing only 2.35 lbs) and feels perfectly balanced. On top, its squishy silicone-coated handle gives you a secure, comfortable grip.

The OXO Good Grips’ broad cooking surface and flared walls are high enough to confidently stir without food spilling. We especially love how the rivets are coated with PTFE nonstick for effortless cleanup. Although, food tends to accumulate if you don’t pay attention.

That being said, 9 out of 10 times, you’ll appreciate how easy this is to use. But it’s only oven safe up to 390°F. And it isn’t induction compatible, either.

Heat Distribution and Retention

Like T-Fal Ultimate, OXO Good Grips has excellent heat distribution. But its secret sauce is its responsiveness.

Overall, it took OXO Good Grips 1 minute 32 seconds to reach 200°F and 2 minutes to exceed 300°F – ideal for browning. And it doesn’t overcook food either, so you get perfect food release every time.

OXO Good Grips is a great choice if you want dependable, reliable cookware.

Durability

Considering OXO Good Grips’ thin construction and low price, you’d be forgiven for assuming it isn’t as durable.

But in reality, it’s just as durable as premium brands like Anolon or All-Clad.

It passed every one of our durability tests with flying colors. And it is still going strong 2 years later – although the surface may get scratched over time.

Honest Verdict

OXO Good Grips is a great option if you want a cheaper alternative to T-Fal. It’s affordable, easy to use, responsive, and durable. Get yours today:

Cast Iron

Cast iron is an excellent investment for home cooks that want long-lasting, high-quality cookware. It’s also great for heat distribution, retains heat well, and becomes naturally nonstick the longer you use it.

Pros

  • Built to last with proper care
  • Excellent heat distribution and retention
  • One of the best brands for durability

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Isn’t the most responsive
  • Can discolor over time

There are literally hundreds of cast iron products to choose from, but Le Creuset gets our vote because of its excellent heat retention and ease of use.

Unlike most cast iron, Le Creuset Signature has an oversized helper handle, wide pour spouts, and flared sides that make cooking a pleasure.

And you’ll enjoy it for the rest of your life – thanks to its industry-leading durability.

Features

This section would have been pretty long if we listed EVERY feature Le Creuset Signature has to offer.

So we’ll only list the most important features:

  • Black satin interior – This enamel is designed for high surface temperatures to improve performance.
  • Lighter than usual – Despite its high-quality construction, Le Creuset Signature is one of the lightest cast iron options available.
  • Great versatility – Le Creuset Signature works on all stovetops, oven safe up to 500°F, and dishwasher and metal utensil safe.
  • Ready to use – Unlike traditional cast iron, this enameled cookware is ready to use straight out of the box. No seasoning is needed.
  • Established track record – Le Creuset has a proven history in the cookware market, having started in 1925.
  • Peace of mind – All Le Creuset products come with a lifetime warranty.

Ease of Use

Le Creuset Signature is easy to use, at least if you’re used to cast iron. But if you’re getting started or reasonably inexperienced, it takes a little getting used to.

In all honesty, you can’t hold it against Le Creuset. Especially when you consider HOW MUCH you can do with it.

Its oversized helper handle improves maneuverability, as it’s not the lightest. We love its wider pour spouts that make pouring liquids, fats, and oils a breeze.

And its flared sides allowed us to stir confidently and stopped food spillage.

Washing it by hand is best, so it preserves the interior’s natural patina – which improves cooking results. And try not to drag it on your electric stove. Lift and place it gently, so it stops scratching or cracking.

Heat Distribution and Retention

If you are in the market for cast iron, you need solid heat distribution and retention. Le Creuset more than delivers on this front.

Yes, it doesn’t heat as quickly as materials like nonstick or stainless steel. It’s definitely a slow burner, so to speak.

But once it gets going, it does a great job of keeping heat locked in.

And you won’t have to worry about hotspots or uneven heating either. Which is great for all-around durability.

Durability

Durability is one of the main reasons we recommend Le Creuset so highly. The Le Creuset Signature range aced our durability tests and looked almost new.

The triple-coated enamel held up remarkably well and didn’t chip or scratch. And the thick cast iron walls prevented any warping.

All things considered, this cookware is built like a tank.

Le Creuset is the perfect fit if you want something that can be enjoyed for decades.

Honest Verdict

Le Creuset is our go-to cast iron brand. In our opinion, no other brand comes close to its durability, heat retention, and performance. Although it’s pricey, it’s worth every penny in our book.

So if you want to level up your game, get Le Creuset:

Copper

If you own an electric or induction stove, you’re not limited to cast iron, nonstick, or stainless steel. There are some copper options out there too.

Here are the best ones for you to consider.

Pros

  • Made in the USA
  • One of the most durable brands in the market
  • Excellent heat distribution and retention

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Handle design isn’t the best
  • Heavy and harder to use

All-Clad Copper Core is the perfect brush for your culinary masterpiece.

The beauty of using All-Clad is you don’t have to sacrifice performance and consistency for ease of use and convenience. Plus, it’s cookware you can rely on, no matter what. It’s built like a tank and will stand by your side for years to come.

Features

All-Clad has an excellent reputation in the market. And it’s received plenty of rave reviews online from brands like Serious Eats, The Kitchn, and even America’s Test Kitchen.

For a quick lowdown, these are All-Clad Copper Core’s main features:

  • Stick resistance – The All-Clad Copper Core’s highly polished stainless steel surface offers superior stick resistance for easy cleanup.
  • Compatible no matter what – This cookware works on any type of stove, including induction. It is also oven/broiler safe up to 600°F.
  • Craftsmanship at its finest – All-Clad Copper Core is made entirely in the USA using only the best materials and comes with a limited lifetime warranty.
  • Responsive performance – Thanks to its thick copper core, this cookware delivers unrivaled performance, allowing quick temperature changes and precise temperature control.
  • Warp-free – Its 5-ply bonded construction stays warp-free no matter what, so food is always cooked to perfection.

Ease of Use

Like the D5 collection, All-Clad Copper Core isn’t easy to use, courtesy of its oddly designed handle. And it’s a lot heavier than its competitors (weighing 3 lbs 5 oz) because of its thick construction.

But that’s where the negatives stop. Its flared rims make food release effortless. We also love its generous 9¼ inch cooking surface, as you can confidently stir ingredients.

And it’s incredibly versatile. Whether you own an electric, induction, or gas stovetop – it works.

Combine that with its 600°F oven-safe temperature, and All-Clad is by far one of the best options for experienced chefs.

Heat Distribution and Retention

All-Clad Copper Core has a lot of power under the hood, so to speak. So, it does take a little getting used to, especially if you’re a beginner.

That being said, this collection has the best heat distribution we’ve seen from copper cookware.

If you need good heat retention, All-Clad Copper Core is a no-brainer. Just remember to keep an eye on your food and adjust temperatures accordingly.

Not convinced yet? Read our All Clad Copper Core review.

Durability

The simple truth is this: While All-Clad is a premium brand with a heavy price tag, no other brand comes close to what it offers in terms of durability.

Durability is All-Clad’s bread and butter. And the Copper Core collection is no different.

Its solid five-ply construction gives you unmatched durability and long-lasting performance. In fact, it made our durability tests look easy and aced every one of them.

Which speaks volumes.

Honest Verdict

We use All-Clad Copper Core quite a bit. It works great, its heat retention and distribution are on point, it’s pretty easy to use, and it’s durable. All in all, you can’t go wrong with All-Clad:

Ceramic

Ceramic cookware arrived on the scene shortly after the controversy of Teflon. It promised to be a safer, environmentally friendly alternative to traditional PTFE nonstick.

In our experience, ceramic cookware doesn’t live up to the hype. That being said, here are some great choices you can consider for your electric stove.

Best Ceramic Cookware: GreenPan Valencia Pro

GreenPan Valencia Pro Ceramic Nonstick 11-Piece Cookware Set

Pros

  • Affordable, but still packed with useful features
  • Better for the environment and you
  • Versatile and responsive

Cons

  • Not as durable as other materials
  • Doesn’t have good heat retention
  • Nonstick surface gets scratched easily

If you want convenience above all else and want to cook healthier, then you should seriously consider GreenPan Valencia Pro.

The beauty of GreenPan Valencia Pro is that it actually works, unlike most hyped-up ceramic cookware. Plus, its Thermolon™ coating is made without PTFE and PFAS.

Features

GreenPan Valencia Pro costs a fraction of the price of its competitors, but it’s still packed with handy features.

Here are the GreenPan Valencia Pro’s main features:

  • Diamond-infused ceramic – GreenPan Valencia Pro’s nonstick coating is pretreated, so it’s extra strong and scratch resistant.
  • Better to the environment – Its Thermolon™ coating doesn’t release toxic fumes when heated and emits 60% less CO2 than traditional nonstick.
  • Healthy cooking – GreenPan Valencia Pro is a healthy ceramic nonstick free of PFOA, PFAS, cadmium, and lead.
  • Tough and durable – It’s made with ultra-strong armored hard-anodized aluminum, so you get extra durability and scratch resistance.
  • Versatile – This collection works on all stovetops and is oven-safe up to 600°F. You can also put it safely in the dishwasher.

Ease of Use

GreenPan Valencia Pro has plenty of features that make cooking easier. The best bit? It does it all while remaining affordable. It’s light, spacious, and comfortable to use.

We loved cooking in it thanks to its broad 9½-inch cooking surface and gently sloped walls. And the cookware’s wide, comfortable steel handle gave us plenty of control in tight spaces.

Overall, though, GreenPan Valencia Pro thrives best when cooking small batches of delicate or sticky foods. It’s also straightforward to clean, thanks to its sleek nonstick surface.

Heat Distribution and Retention

GreenPan Valencia Pro is very quick to heat up. It runs much hotter than traditional nonstick cookware. Often, you’ll need to adjust the heat, so food cooks properly or doesn’t burn.

But once you get to grips with it, using it is second nature.

GreenPan Valencia Pro isn’t the best at heat retention – especially compared to the other options in our list. Our thermal tests showed that it took X minutes to cool below 100°F.

In comparison, T-Fal Ultimate took X minutes before it reached 100°F.

But it’s still a solid option if you’re always in a rush and need rapid responsiveness.

Durability

Unfortunately, GreenPan Valencia Pro is a mixed bag for durability.

On the one hand, the nonstick surface became scratched after a while. Equally, though, it passed our thermal shock and abuse tests.

Some customers do report problems with the nonstick coating.

That being said, hundreds of customer reviews mention how durable their nonstick coating is.

All in all, it’s best to use wooden or silicone utensils with this cookware.

Honest Verdict

If you like responsiveness and great usability, Valencia Pro is a good addition and a great alternative to traditional PTFE nonstick. But if you’re focused on durability and heat retention, there are better options out there.

Still, GreenPan Valencia Pro is undoubtedly a healthier way of cooking. And you can get it here:

That’s A Wrap

This brings us to the end of this roundup review of the best cookware for electric stoves.

As you can see, there are plenty of options to choose from. But stainless steel or cast iron is the best material to opt for all-around. These are great for heat distribution and retention.

Plus, they’re durable and able to withstand extremely high temperatures.

So if you want to elevate your cooking game, consider these options for your electric stove.
